Greyhounds
"I can't wait for you to see them. They look like a couple of cute greyhounds" " Did you say greyhounds?"
Last spring lovely Elaine convinced me our empty nest needed a new companion. I knew she wasn't thinking about another batch of kids, because she was showing me photos of dogs she thought were cute. after looking at the photos, it became exactly apparent the type of dog she was looking for.
Elaine wanted a dog that did not shed. Children don't shed much but she didn't seem interested in that knowledge. Children will occasionally do the dishes which I thought dogs would not do. I proved I was wrong; dogs will take care of the dishes if you leave the door to the dishwasher open. Just a little free advice.
for companionship, Elaine and I purchased two aussie/doodle puppies. They had fluffy/hairy cute little faces, much like mine. However, mine is 100% white, their faces were mostly black. I thought they are as cute as Elaine did.
We soon found that the puppies were not free from shedding. Tiny (and not so tiny) black hair started showing up on the floors of our home. Not a big deal, we have one of the super-dooper infomercial vacuums that picks up dog hair, human hair, oatmeal, cereal, berries, and pet dander.
Maybe I didn't notice it, but Elaine seemed to think the puppies need grooming. Being a person who has avoided grooming most of my life, I didn't see the need for the puppies to be groomed. It didn't matter that I was happy with the looks of the puppies. A grooming appointment was made.
The puppies "enjoyed" grooming like I do, only they got to be sedated. I've never had that. Here's where it started getting weird. The groomer told Elaine their hair was matted and need to be cut short ( (shaved) I've pet those dogs and never felt matted hair.
The groomer took off the hair off their faces, bodies, legs, and tails. All of it. They look like (construction language) greyhounds. If I wanted greyhounds I would have bought them.
When Elaine brought the puppies home they seemed sluggish. It could have been the sedation had not totally worn off, but it is more likely they saw themselves in the mirror and were simply depressed.
AND THEN!
Tw days later, Elaine and the vet decided it was time to neuter the puppies. I have thoughts on that also, Not that it matters, but I still have thoughts.
God Bless, Love ya, Yarn
